Seahawks Lose Superbowl PDF Print E-mail

Yes, it's true. They made it all the way to the big game and lost. Not too much more to say about that. It was a close game, and I don't think I'm exaggerating to say a few bad calls made the difference.

In the end, though, the refs are just part of the game. There's no point in making excuses. I will be the first to give the Steelers credit. They played the better game, and they deserved to win.

Oh well... next year!

Seahawks on Monday Night Football PDF Print E-mail

So, much to my surprise, the Seahawks are the best team in the NFC. I'm more excited about following this team than any time since I really started caring about football. (This was some time in the late 80's, but it's hard to be sure.) I'm not a rabid sports fan, but I always have been a Seahawks fan to one degree or another. Who knows, maybe this is their year to finally make it to the Super Bowl? The closest they've ever been was the AFC Championship Game in 1979, so it's definitely overdue.

Anyway, check on the game if you can. Here's info from ESPN's website.

Travel in Saftey! PDF Print E-mail

We heard a very interesting interview with a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) official recently. He said that the TSA is instructing screeners to spend less time looking for "things that are sharp" and more time looking for "things that explode". Really, that's what he said.

I'm glad to know they have changed emphasis, and that their new guidelines are written with the average 1st-grader in mind. Honestly, the interview seemed like something out of Saturday Night Live...

Image Image Oh the joys of eBay. We got 2 tickets to watch the Cardinals play the Seahawks this Sunday, at 1/2 the face value of the tickets. Even better, we can walk to the stadium from our house. (I love Tempe.) So, watch the game if you can in your area - we shouldn't be too hard to spot given the (lack of) numbers of people who go to Cardinals games.

Rosa Parks PDF Print E-mail

Rosa Parks died last week, and her body is now lying in state in the US Capitol. This is a great honor for a great woman.

I just feel like we should also remember the thousands of others who fought for civil rights and never got the publicity she did. I think about the films of people being blown over by firehoses and attacked by police dogs (in Birmingham?). None of them will be honored in the Capitol or noticed in the news.

It's a good thing that Rosa Parks is being honored. It's also worth remembering that there are many others who would be worthy of that honor if only we knew who they were.
